"It won't go"

What a great cartoon.
I thought it may be appropriate since
Thanksgiving is right around the corner.
I hope you got a chuckle out of it.

Here’s another funny moment.
This one is real - a real life situation comedy.

Recently my wife said that one of our cars
was acting up, or so she thought/claimed.
She said that the car seemed to stop intermittently
while driving. She claimed that something was
wrong with the car. So, I decided to drive her
car as both of us went out on a date night the
other day (long over due by the way).
I said
“Bird,
(an affectionate name –
no turkey/Thanksgiving pun intended.
weird? - I know – explanation some other time)
the car seems to be driving fine."

She said well it is fine now but it was not when
I was driving it.

So while I was thinking in my mind what could
have been different between when she was driving
and now, she blurted out

“Well something is wrong with the car – it won’t go
without gas.”

Hmmmmm…. I think you see the problem. She
obviously caught what she was saying a few seconds
later and we both busted out laughing.

Funny this may be, but what an insight into human
behavior it also is. Sometimes we just forget what
all is needed in order for a process, system,
organization, or a car to function.

Sometimes the object of our forgetfulness is something
complicated but most of the times it is
something right under our noses – something
simple. A system can not work at the optimal
performance for which it was designed if even a
small part or supporting part is left out; it either
will not function at all or, at the very least, it will
be severely limited to its capability.
I came up with this conclusion on my own.
And believe me, I am no philosopher or deep thinker.
But if I can see this, then surely God knows how to
design systems for optimal performance much better
than any of us. And He did.

God has designed this world for optimal performance.
He has designed us for optimal performance. The world
has deteriorated with the introduction of sin, nonetheless,
God has a plan – a plan of restoration.

His plan calls for optimal performance. If we follow that
plan, it can be achieved. If we forget to fuel ourselves,
the plan will suffer; we will function at deteriorated levels
if at all.

BTW, we must use premium unleaded fuel not the water
downed stuff with impurities.

God has the best petrol for our persons, and that is
His Word.

Do we fill up daily?
We should – don’t run half empty, much less,
just running on fumes.

The sad case is most of us have already stopped
running at all. We just don’t know it.
The fuel gage reads full but the tank is empty.

You may ask ….
well, if we see that we are still moving,
how can we not have fuel.?

How does this happen?
I would suggest that you have stopped moving.
Instead you are being pushed. You are being pushed
by the world; by burdens; by bills; by
unhealthy relationships; by many things. This is why
you are moving - you are being pushed.
Don’t let yourselves be pushed by these things.

Satan uses these things to deplete your
gas tank and then he takes over. I am
not saying that these things go away when
you follow God’s plan, but they don’t drive you.
Rather, you fuel up with premium fuel and get
driven by God’s Word and you follow
the path of his plan.

Let Him drive and lead - you will be filled.
Let the burden be his.

This Thanksgiving, let’s thank Jesus for
willingly wanting to bear our burdens.
He promises to give us joy in all things if
we follow his plan. Why bear a problem,
burden, or situation when we can rely on
him to handle it?

Do you have a tough situation or problem you
are dealing with? Do you not fully understand
how you can rely on Him to handle it?

Then get with a Christ follower who does understand.
Ask them to help. Ask me if you like. I can’t
promise that I will give you the best explanation,
but I sure will try and if I can’t help I will point you
to where you can find help.

“For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
